Judy Yi Yang
Senior Designer
Originally from Guangdong, China, Judy grew up under a humid subtropical climate where hurricane and excessive rainfall significantly impact the formation of the local landform and city’s function. Living next to a riverfront, she enjoyed the casualty and dynamics of the space and started to develop her early understanding of landscape functions. After witnessing the mistreatment of her favorite park, she developed a strong sense of environmental ethics and dedicated her later study to functional landscape. From positioning a tiny stormwater drain hole to deciding the direction of an exit, Judy is committed to practical urban problem-solving at all scales and brings expertise in digital modeling to her role at MVVA.

Judy received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and later earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Cornell University. She won the Sasaki Day Award in 2016 and 2017, as well as the ASLA Student Honor Award in 2019. Prior to her start at MVVA, Judy worked for TROP in Bangkok, Thailand and EDSA in Orlando. In her spare time, she enjoys movies and practices her Chinese zither. Music, food, and adventure are her muses. She also loves to meditate.
