Emily Humphrey
Emily is from a rural town in Southern Rhode Island and grew up visiting coastal Maine. The qualities of the New England coast inspired Emily's love of landscape and led her to receive a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Rhode Island in 2015. While in college, she worked as a fine gardener and a farm hand, exploring the practical and tactile qualities of the land. She also assisted in research on sea level rise and its impact on coastal communities, and participated in a permaculture design internship in Hawaii. In addition, her design work draws on a three-month road trip around the US to explore national parks.

Emily previously worked as a landscape designer at Offshoots, Inc. in Boston and Traverse Landscape Architects in Providence, Rhode Island. She was awarded a Rhode Island ASLA Student Honor Award for Design in 2015 and served as a studio critic the University of Rhode Island in 2018. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, which she pursued as a minor in college. She joined MVVA in 2018.
