David Shimmel
Senior Associate
David is from southern New Hampshire where he enjoys the close proximity of city, ocean, and mountains. He spent much of his childhood exploring the flora and fauna in the rivers, woodlands, and meadows near his house. It was these experiences, together with a Waldorf education that focused on the values of creative, independent thinking; art in enriching daily life; and a deep appreciation of our natural systems that ultimately guided David to landscape architecture.

David received a Bachelors of Art with a focus in Visual Communications from Furman University in Greenville, SC, and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from Ohio State University. Prior to joining MVVA, David taught undergraduate design studios at Ohio State and worked at Landworks Studio as a junior project manager. He continues to stay involved in academia, most recently as an assistant instructor for a graduate design studio at the Rhode Island School of Design. In his spare time, he likes to fly fish, play basketball and travel.

David joined MVVA in 2018.
