James' expertise lies in the design of public parks and urban waterfronts and in the administrative and documentation phases of landscape construction. He is a senior project leader in the design, documentation and construction of the CityArchRiver 2015 project at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and Riverfront in St. Louis.
Prior to his employment at MVVA, James practiced landscape architecture for eight years with Hargreaves Associates. He has been a visiting critic at Harvard's Graduate School of Design, the Career Discovery program at Harvard, and Boston Architectural College. James received a dual Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Theater Scenic Design from the College of William and Mary. He earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, where he was awarded the American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award. James is a licensed Landscape Architect in the state of New York.
James joined MVVA in 2010.
