John Maxson
Senior Designer
John is originally from Northford, Connecticut, and planned to become an architect. After college, however, he worked with a conservation corps in Flagstaff, Arizona, rebuilding trails and working on ecological restoration projects throughout National Parks and National Forests in the Western US. This experience led him to study landscape architecture at the University of Oregon, where he received his Master’s of Landscape Architecture in 2018.

John received a Bachelor’s in Architectural Studies from Connecticut College in 2010. Before MVVA, he worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Oregon, interned at PWP Landscape Architecture, led conservation crews in the southwest, and wrote grants for a documentary film company. In his free time, he enjoys working with ceramics, bicycling, backpacking, and baking bread.

John joined MVVA in 2018.
