Ishaan Kumar
Senior Designer
Ishaan was born and raised in New York City, where recent investments in the public realm inspired him to work in design. Originally trained as an architect, Ishaan decided to study landscape architecture after a four-month road trip to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil exposed him to the richness and diversity of the natural world. In his spare time, Ishaan enjoys playing a range of instruments, including the piano. In college, he was director of a church orchestra, where he taught music to people of all ages and organized concerts at many venues. His background in music has influenced his landscape practice, where he has focused on the idea of designing Planted Orchestrations.

Ishaan received a Bachelor of Architecture from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining MVVA, he worked on retail projects at Two One Two Design and interned in the Dallas and Laguna Beach offices of SWA. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at NYIT, where he taught a Visualization course, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Penn facilitating urban design studios.

Ishaan joined MVVA in 2018.
