Cole Dawley
Cole grew up near Denver, Colorado where his proximity to both the Rocky Mountains and the city fostered an affinity for nature and an appreciation for how nature is manifested in more accessible urban landscapes. He believes landscape architects can play a significant role in promoting equity of public open spaces and broadening access to unique natural landscapes in urban areas. Cole draws inspiration from regular visits to Washington State, particularly its rugged coastal landscapes and the cultural and economic energy of Pike Place Market in Seattle. Influenced by his experience managing theater sets as a student, he approaches creating landscapes like creating a stage, where all aspects of design are synthesized to bring the user into the story of the site.

Cole received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University, during which time he assisted with teaching Rhino 3D modeling to both undergraduate and graduate students and interned with the university’s transportation department to help visualize future alternative transportation projects for the campus. He was the recipient of an ASLA Merit Award.

Cole joined MVVA in 2017.
