Andy grew up in central Ontario, where the landscape transitions from agricultural fields to the exposed rocky landscapes of the Canadian Shield. His family's cottage on a small island provided intimate experiences with the wilderness, wildlife, and the freshwater lakes of northern Ontario; this landscape in particular continuously inspires his design perspective. Prior to joining MVVA in 2014, Andy spent two years working for HOK Toronto and Hong Kong as an urban designer. He has also worked as an intern for PUBLIC WORK Toronto.
Andy received a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in urban planning from the University of Waterloo, where he graduated with honors. He earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Harvard's Graduate School of Design, graduating with distinction and was awarded the ASLA Commencement Award. At the GSD he was a teaching assistant for core and landscape representation courses.
