Originally from San Francisco, Michael’s design perspective is informed by his study of west coast microclimates and sustainable architecture and by his professional experience in translating conceptual design into construction documents. Michael has contributed to the design development and construction documentation for the Gathering Place for Tulsa, a 90-acre riverfront park in Tulsa, OK. His extensive knowledge of geology and experience working with stone has made him invaluable to the Tulsa project. He is also a member of the creative team for the master plan development of the Trinity River floodplain in Dallas, Texas.
Prior to joining MVVA in 2013, Michael was a designer at Pedersen Associates in San Rafael, CA, and at Balmori Associates in New York City.
Michael received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Cornell University, where he was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant award for his role instructing a course on site construction. Michael is a licensed Landscape Architect in the State of New York and a LEED accredited professional.
