DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS RIVERFRONT PARK
Columbus, OH (2001–2007)
Having completed a conceptual plan for the Downtown Columbus Riverfront Park in association with financial consultants HR&A Advisors, MVVA proposed a series of interconnected open spaces along the Scioto River that would be utilized daily by people who live and work downtown. The central element of the proposed park system is the Riverfront Promenade, which acts as a spine, uniting the open spaces of the riverfront. The plan also imagines a lower level park that extends into the river, including a water feature being developed with artists Ann Hamilton and Michael Mercil. A key goal of the proposed park is to create a system that would be both a daily amenity for those living and working downtown, and a magnet for those coming downtown for cultural events, celebrations, or to visit the capital.
